JOB DETAILS:
University Research Co., LLC (URC), a US-based public health organization working in Uganda since 2005, is implementing the USAID’s Regional Health integration to Enhance Services in East Central Uganda Activity (USAID’s RHITES EC). The purpose of the Activity is to support delivery of health and HIV services in 12 districts of East-Central Uganda URC seeks qualified candidates to fill the following position;
Technical Advisor-Child Health

Job Purpose
The Child Health Advisor is responsible for providing overall leadership, coordination and management tor implementation oi evidence based child health interventions (as per MOH policy/ guidelines) in districts supported by the project S/he will coordinate and manage project efforts to build capacity of districts. healthcare facilities and communities to deliver quality child health services.

Job Specifications (Specific Responsibilities

a) Spearhead the development and implementation of RHITES EC child health strategies and interventions, work plans and health systems strengthening activities designed to improve quality of Child Health services

h) Participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of district work plans for Child Health interventions;

c) Track key performance indicators and strategies to determine progress in achievement of targets and innovations across supported districts;

d) Manage specific activities, as assigned; work with colleagues to prepare activity plans and budgets; liaise with stakeholders; provide direct technical input in areas of expertise; monitor and report on progress; and participate in review meetings;

9) Participate on behalf of the project in relevant regional/national technical coordination and TWG meetings;

t) Manage and _conduct data-driven and targeted mentoring and supervision activities, aiming at building child health service delivery capacity of healthcare facilities;

g) Work with other project stall to plan to implement quality improvement activities, including supporting health unit teams to achieve efficient delivery of services;

h) Prepare periodic program reports, as may be required,

Required Experience and Qualifications:

a) Medical Doctor with a post-graduate qualification in pediatrics or public health or an equivalent qualification;

h) Experience in the design, implementation, management and evaluation of primary health care services related to child health is desirable;

c) Knowledge in a public health approach to providing the Uganda Essential Child Health Package (ECHP), including skilling frontline service providers in MhiCl;

d) An effective team player who has proven ability to work successfully with other project colleagues in a task-paced work setting;

e) Demonstrated ability to assess priorities and manage a variety of activities in a time-sensitive environment and meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality;

i) Ability and willingness to quickly learn and further develop own skills in child health program management

– Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently; demonstrated interpersonal and teamwork skills with ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams; excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills.
