Responsible for the operation of piling rig equipment.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Ensure drill rigs, heavy machinery, and equipment are effectively operated to optimize the profitability of the site’s operations.
• Ensure the highest levels of quality are maintained and report any maintenance faults or issues.
• Control movements of piling rig and associated plant around the site.
• Operate the Control movements of the piling rig and associated plant around the site.
• Conduct daily inspections of piling rigs and ensure the machinery is in good working condition.
• Maintain accurate logs and reports.
• Complies fully with all HSE policies and requirements and communicates safe working practices always.
• Keeps tools and equipment clean and in good working order and reports any problems or deviations.
• Effectively communicates with field staff, engineers, and clients.
• Ability to perform routine maintenance, minor mechanical repairs, and associated record keeping.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical plans, diagrams, or other instructions to determine the depth, angle, and location of piles to be driven.
• Operate cranes, hoists, or other moving or lifting equipment to position materials such as steel beams or reinforced cages, or concrete blocks into position.
• Monitor the operation of the pile driver, adjusting as necessary to ensure proper functioning.
• Inspect the piles and micro piles that have been driven to ensure they meet specifications.
• Driving heavy steel tubes into the ground at the right depth, filling them with concrete, and then removing them, to leave the support in place.
• Keep accurate records of piles driven, including type, size, and location.
• Driving fully reinforced, pre-cast concrete piles into the ground.
• Carrying out rotary bore piling using a temporary casing and auger to drill to the necessary depth.
• Identifying the position of underground services (such as pipes or wires) before starting work.
• Observe the pressure gauge and move throttles and levers to control the speed of rotary tables, and to regulate the pressure of tools at the bottoms of boreholes.
• Ensure a specified grade of concrete is poured for pile concrete work by checking batch slips at regular intervals; check the quality/workability of the concrete visually & report to the concerned authority if the quality is poor.
• Coordinate necessary alteration/repairing if a fault is found as per instruction from concerned authority/quality guidelines; monitor welding works in re-bar cages and casing pipes for extension of the same.
• Ensure adequate bentonite slurry circulation and pre-tensile strength test on micropile anchors had been carried out.
• Experience operating a variety of pile and micro-pile driving equipment.
• Testing of micropile/tiebacks and load frames.
• Supervise Welding of Connections (safety railing, tiebacks, internal bracing, etc.), and operate pumps, compressors, and bentonite plants.
• Train crews and introduce procedures to make drill work safer and more effective.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
• Higher national diploma in mechanical engineering or certificate/ training in a related field with 15 years of experience working on construction projects.
• Minimum of 10 years of proven work experience in advanced machine operations.
• 10 years of experience as a senior operating piling and/or drilling rigs is a MUST.
• Knowledge of piling and micro piling techniques and construction experience.
• S/he will be reporting to the Piling foreman.
• Pilling rig operators, experienced in bored pier and CFA piling techniques.
• Possess Skill Evaluation Certificate in Bored Piling Operation
• Excellent team player, good interpersonal skills, and a can-do attitude
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
