In Uganda, ZOA has offices in Kampala, West Nile (Arua), Acholi (Nwoya), and Karamoja (Amudat). ZOA Uganda works both in relief and recovery on the themes of food security & livelihoods, WASH, primary/accelerated/vocational education, and conflict management with a special focus on land security.
ZOA is looking for a:
Project Coordinator- Agribusiness ( 1 position ) for West Nile
Purpose of the position
The Project Coordinator, with support from the Project Manager, is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing the activities of the specific ZOA project(s) assigned to him/her.

Project specific
The Agribusiness Coordinator will identify private sector actors that provide market opportunities for SDCs; develop and implement strategies for engagement with the private sector and build the capacity of the youth to establish effective partnerships or linkage with the private sector; in addition to coaching SDCs in setting up viable businesses.

Main activities
Tasks specific to this job
• Under the supervision of the PM and the livelihood advisor, conduct market scans, identify and map private sector actors (including requirements) that provide sustainable market for the enterprises selected, including for contract farming;
• Identify key entry points for engagement with the private sector;

• Facilitate connection with traders, off-takers and processors who can be linked to SDCs;
• Periodically identify SDCs that are ready for market and build the capacity to meet the requirements of the buyers, including quality specifications and collective marketing;
• Facilitate agreement (including forward and contract farming) between SDCs and buyers, including over seeing implementation;
• Continuously identify market opportunities for SDCs (not a one time work;

Leadership and management
• Implements project activities in relation to the project proposal to achieve optimal project outputs and outcomes in line with ZOA/donor procedures and targets;
• Supports Project field team members and possible community volunteers in day to day implementation;
• Strengthens the culture of innovativeness among the field staff;
• Any other duty as assigned by the supervisor in line with the project.

Project coordination
• Provide inputs to implementation plans and activity/monthly reports;
• Identify, document lessons learned and best practices;
• Prepare and submit well written success stories;
• Contribute to any other project reports;
• Organize monitoring and data recording systems of activities in the project;
• Ensure timely data collection and entering in to the data base for easy retrieval.
• Actively participate in (technical) working groups and coordination meetings.

HR/Admin/Finance
• Ensure the staff under supervision have weekly and monthly targets;
• Conduct periodic meetings to achieve targets;
• Conduct staff appraisal/evaluation as per ZOA’s policy;
• Provide technical support and build capacity of staff for quality implementation of project activities;
• Support supervisor to timely purchase requisition of project goods/services.

Competencies
• Knowledge & Experience
• Degree in Agribusiness or other related relevant field;
• At least 5 years successful experience in a similar position implementing related projects;
• Previous experience working with private sector linkage with farmers for inputs/markets and or financial access is a requirement;
• Experience with managing projects funded by institutional donors is an added advantage;
• Experience and enough knowledge of big buyers of agricultural commodities in Uganda;
• Experience in designing and implementing agricultural marketing activities;
• Knowledge in value chain and supply and marketing analysis;
• Experience in group marketing;
• Having led a project in collaboration with a partner is an added advantage;
• Understanding of the local context, culture, and languages is an added value;
• Excellent spoken and written command of English.
