Background:
DAI seeks an Environmental Specialist, Grants and Procurement Office and Market Systems Advisor for a five-year, $24 million dollar USAID-funded agriculture program. The Feed the Future inclusive Agricultural Market Activity (FtF JAM) is a five-year program implemented by DAI Global Inc. The Activity seeks to increase incomes and improve the livelihood of households through agriculture-led inclusive economic growth in 38 focused zones of influence (ZOI) districts in Uganda. Inclusivity refers to the active participation and engagement of all actors looking to participate in the market system including the poor, women, youth, ethnic minorities, or other marginalized groups who are often excluded, or even exploited by the traditional market systems. FtF IAM works through market actors to build capacity and enable them to respond to opportunities within the agricultural sector. The approach empowers local actors, especially the private sector, government and producer groups, among others to align incentives for improved market performance

Job Title: Environmental Specialist
Job Description;
The Environmental Specialist will help prepare Environmental Review reports (ERs) and Environmental Mitigation and Monitoring Plans (EMMPs). ensure compliance with 22 CFR 216 requirements, the IEE recommendations, and Ugandan environmental laws and regulations.
The Environmental Specialist will assist the Feed the Future Uganda Inclusive Agricultural Markets Activity’s technical and grants teams in completing required environmental screening for various project activities and grants.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Environmental Specialist will focus on the following areas:
• Implement the pverall Environmental Monitoring and Mitigation Plan for Feed the Future Inclusive Agricultural Markets Activity.
• Write and review environmental review reports and environmental mitigation and monitoring plans in consultation with the technical team.
• Ensure that required environmental compliance documentation is prepared for the relevant activity grants in line with the overall IAM’s Environmental Monitoring and Mitigation Plan and USAID/Uganda PERSUAPs.
• Prepare Environmental Mitigation and Monitoring Plans for all IAM’s identified partners, as required.
• Coordinate with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning team to integrate required environmental monitoring into the Activity’s system.
• Coordinate with the technical team, consultants and implementing partners like MAAIF and NFA in planning and managing safeguards on project activities.
• Undertake environmental monitoring and supervision of project activities, including development of monitoring compilation of periodic (quarteriy, semi-annual, and annual) review reports, to ensure compliance with relevant environmental requirements.
• Provide regular environmental review updates and reports to be incorporated into IAM’S project reports and deliverables.
• Train and mentor activity staff in environmental compliance.
• Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in agriculture, natural resource management environment, biology, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in agricultural development, with a minimum of 3 years in environmental management, including experience with USAID rules and regulations.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of USAID’s environmental procedures.
• Experience in monitoring for environmental compliance for USAID-funded projects.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written), and analytical skills.

Kampala, Uganda with frequent travel to generate and potential partner site in Easter, southwestern, Northern and karamoja regions
Reporting;
The environmental Specialist will report to the project deputy chief of party or his/her designee
