NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Deputy Area Manager when appointed.
  • Representation in sectorial coordination, clusters and/or working group – Kampala Urban Programme level
  • Compliance and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
  • Line management for Core Competency  project coordinators  under the Urban Programme:(Information Counseling and Legal Assistance, Community Based Protection, Shelter/Wash, LFS/Cash & Voucher Assistance, Education).
  • Provide area specific input relevant for Core Competency strategies
  • Responsible for ensuring programme support  to integrated programme, coordination and technical quality in Area office (Urban programme)
  • Compliance to donor standards, and grant management and regular reporting to donor in Area
  • Identify funding opportunities and develop funding strategy and forecasts
  • Responsible for grants management and BPO allocations in the Area
  • Ensure compliance with contractual commitments and extracting and implementing key learnings from project implementation
  • Coordinate new emergency response in the Area, and approve existing
  • Ensure capacity building of all technical staff ,
Qualifications
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience from a management position in a humanitarian/ recovery context
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Urban programming and Cash & Voucher Assistance expertise
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
  • Valid driver’s license
Personal qualities
  • Knowledge of the context in Kampala Urban Refugee settlement
  • Knowledge of global protection standards and relevant bodies of international law
We can offer
Job Grade 9 as per NRC Uganda approved scale
Commencement: January 2020
Duration: 12 months renewable subject to funding.
Duty station: Kampala.
