Officer Hardware Installations and Maintenance – (210002P)
Description
JOB ROLE/ PURPOSE:
Install and monitor Power Systems in all URA IT sites while incorporating enhanced early warning processes to ensure constant and reliable power supply to IT equipment.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Install and maintain UPS power to URA sites for business continuity.
a. Draw plans for installation of power and Requisition for the resources needed
b. Install and test power at URA Stations and report on installations made
c. Provide second level support to hardware maintenance to ensure that the equipment works efficiently.
2. Enhance UPS power early warnings
a. Draft guidelines on UPS Installation, Configuration and management.
b. Install UPS and Accessories to enhance monitoring and early warning
c. Prepare designs and implementation plans for configuring desktop alerts to enhance early warnings.
d. Initiate the associated change management process to ensure that all desktops by default are configured by policy to receive the power messages.
e. Configure system to send alerts (Desktop, email alerts) to clients and concerned technical individuals about power failures and UPS discharge status to enable work recovery
f. Document the configuration processes for each configured UPS.
g. Communicate all plans and accomplishments as per section plan.
h. Monitor the UPSs 24 / 7 to ensure that all incidents arising are captured in real-time and follow to ensure quick resolution of the incidents.
a. Conduct periodic tests to ensure that the configured systems are always operational.
j. Analyze monitored data to identify trends or lasting problems at a particular station in relation to UPS Power
k. Submit periodic status reports about the power systems in URA and any identified incidents and present to IT Infrastructure team about the status of power management and monitoring.
l. Perform periodic sensitization to IT Staff and Users to ensure that installed UPS systems are not abused through activities like putting.
3. Deploy, install and monitor out-sourced printing and photocopying services
a. Participate in pre-deployment surveys for out-sourced printers in conjunction with service providers and submit status reports as required
b. Assess and establish the appropriate load capacity for every printer and photocopier outsourced service to determine appropriate allocations
c. Install and configure different roles on the server assign each URA user a printing code/PIN and notify them via email for reference purpose.
d. Configure mail services on each and every Multi-functional Printer to enable URA users scan documents to their respective email addresses.
e. Compile weekly meter readings to assist in verification of submitted invoices and truck usage of printing services.
f. Identify Hardware related incidents with the out sourced printing services and liaise with the service provider to provide an appropriate solution.
g. Proactively monitor tonner levels for all installed printers across URA and inform the service providers to provide replacements before the toner runs out thus ensuring continuous business flow.
h. Monitor counter pages for all installed printers across URA to verify and determine the cost.
a. Supervision of the maintenance of the outsourced printers.
4. IT equipment repair and workshop maintenance
a. Maintain a register of IT equipment in the workshop and IT spares
b. Troubleshoot IT equipment
c. Identification of spares required to repair equipment.

Qualifications
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Essential Requirements
a. An honor’s bachelor’s degree in IT, Electronics or Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering.
Desirable Requirements
a. Professional certification such as Cisco, A+ and N+
b. Experience in UPS installation and computer maintenance
Knowledge
a. Skills in electronic repair including soldering.
b. Ability to use standard equipment in troubleshooting and repair of IT equipment.
c. Knowledge of the IEEE and EIA/TIA standards.
d. Knowledge of the IT industry, IT Policy, Hardware maintenance, hardware repairs, the different hardware platforms, trends, Installation and maintenance of UPS power

a. The incumbent must have Good report writing and communication skills.
b. S/he should Demonstrable creativity and innovation skills.
c. Research and investigative skills.
d. The incumbent must be able to work under stressful environments and long hours.
