Village Power’s core focus is to empower people in Uganda to improve their standard of living by

building a last mile- customer centric distribution & service network that provides great value for

money solar home systems, appliances and services to people mainly in rural areas.

The Director of Finance will play the very important role of overall financial management. You will

develop and ensure the implementation of financial strategies, as well as advise, support and inform

decisions at all levels.The tasks include but are not limited to: budgeting, controlling, forecasting,

managing debt, improving revenue and maintaining a healthy financial position to enhance the

confidence of all stakeholders.

The duty station for this role is at head office in Kampala, although one may be required to travel

upcountry from time to time. This Function is part of the Village Power Uganda top management

team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Directing financial planning & strategy

2. Analyzing complex financial data

3. Setting financial targets

4. Analyzing and reporting on financial performance

5. Developing and ensuring the implementation of customer centric accounting processes

6. Overseeing audits

7. Ensuring tax compliance

8. Ensuring compliance to accounting regulations

9. Preparing forecasts and comprehensive budgets

10. Reviewing department budgets

11. Providing the organization with an efficient administrative framework

12. Managing internal controls

13. Overseeing credit management and the Pay-as-you-go platform

14. Assessing, managing and minimizing risk

15. Overseeing procurement & company imports

16. Training and supporting the finance and administration team

Competence, Skills & Attributes

1. A qualified professional with proven financial management experience of at least 5

years+ and an understanding of the above essential duties & responsibilities

2. Certification in a professional course such as ACCA or CPA

3. Proficiency in accounting software

4. Strategic acumen

5. Strong numerical and analytical skills

6. Broad knowledge of accounting principles

7. Ability to effectively communicate complex financial data and information to non-financial expertise

8. High attention to detail and accuracy

9. Solar industry and or micro finance knowledge would be of advantage

10. A high degree of integrity, growth orientation, hunger for results, simplicity, customer centricity as well as an appreciation for a fun and positive working environment.
